Designing for Impact: My Internship Experience at the Prime Minister’s Office – Strategy Group
Design
Internships offer a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application. During my time as an intern at the Prime Minister’s Office – Strategy Group, I had the chance to contribute to various national initiatives, applying my skills in graphic design, motion graphics, and digital content management to projects that aimed to inform and engage the public.
One of my key responsibilities was designing infographics that focused on sustainability in the workplace environment. These visual assets were created to communicate complex information in an accessible and engaging way, ensuring that key messages were effectively delivered to target audiences.
I was also involved in social media management, assisting with the scheduling of posts and ensuring content was published in accordance with the social media plan. This experience allowed me to understand the importance of consistency in digital communications and how strategic planning enhances audience engagement.
Additionally, I worked on motion graphics for the Climate Change Directorate, refining and developing visual elements for public awareness campaigns. Motion graphics played a crucial role in making climate-related topics more digestible and engaging for viewers, reinforcing the power of visual storytelling in policy communications.
From time to time, I create graphics for events like Earth Day, contributing visually engaging designs that help promote awareness and participation.

Beyond digital media, I had the opportunity to work on two key design projects:
Collateral Updates for Emerging Stronger Conversations (2021) – I assisted in updating and refining design materials for this initiative, ensuring clarity and impact in its communication.
Made for Families Stork Brochure – I contributed to kickstarting this project, helping shape its design direction and overall execution to support family-centric initiatives.

My role also extended to website maintenance for the National Climate Change Secretariat (NCCS), where I ensured articles and information remained up to date. This task underscored the importance of maintaining accurate and current digital resources for public access.
Through this internship, I gained invaluable insights into the role of design and digital media in government communications. It was a fulfilling experience that reinforced my passion for visual storytelling and its ability to shape public perception and engagement. As I move forward in my journey, I aim to continue leveraging design as a powerful tool for meaningful and impactful communication.
